A native of Illinois, orthopaedic surgeon Michael Freehill graduated with honors in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and earned his medical degree from Loyola University-Stritch School of Medicine. He completed a fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, where he specialized in shoulder and elbow reconstruction.
Today, Dr. Freehill sees patients at Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists in Edina, Minn., where he specializes in shoulder, elbow and sports medicine. His comprehensive training includes trauma and joint reconstruction. He provides medical care for Division I and III collegiate teams in the Twin Cities area as well as for professional athletes. Dr. Freehill’s research interests include clinical and basic science and he is the recipient of several research awards. He is frequent lecturer on shoulder and elbow conditions and is the author of numerous academic publications on the same.
