Dr. Hanson is a board-certified family practice doctor with a Certificate of Advanced Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Family Practice. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. Following completion of his residency in 1996, Dr. Hanson completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis in 1997.

He sees patients at Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists in Minneapolis and Edina, Minn., and serves as the team physician for the Minnesota Thunder, the U.S. Biathlon and U.S. Triathlon teams, Augsburg College, and several high school athletic teams. He provides medical coverage for Minnesota State High School League tournaments. Dr. Hanson is adjunct professor for the Hennepin County Medical Center Sports Medicine program.

Dr. Hanson was recently named to Mpls/St. Paul magazine's 2007 Top Docs. The annual survey randomly samples licensed and practicing Minnesota physicians about who they consider to be the best in the industry.
