Jody Jachna, M.D., earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in 1999 and completed a general surgery internship in 2000 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he earned the Top Doc Award in 2000 and 2001. He will complete an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in July 2004 and joins Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center in August as an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellow.
Prior to medical school, Dr. Jachna’s wide-ranging work experience includes serving as Rehabilitation Director for First American Health Care and as a certified athletic trainer at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
His special medical interests include endurance athletes and shoulder injuries. Cycling, hiking, metal sculpture and welding are among his personal interests.
Jennifer Swaringen, M.D., completed her doctor of medicine degree at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1999 and a general surgery internship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich., in 2000. She joins Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center as an Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellow in August 2004 following completion of an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Dr. Swaringen’s work experience includes serving as a research assistant at the Emory Sports Medicine Clinic in Atlanta and she is currently involved in sports medicine research at the University of Michigan. She also has provided medical coverage for high school and collegiate sporting events in Ann Arbor, Mich. Her special medical interests include sports-related injuries and knee and shoulder arthroscopy.
